  • Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour

I happened to be in Las Vegas for a day and looked into doing a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon with a landing down in the canyon and a picnic lunch. Oh boy was I excited!! This has been on my list for many years and finally I had the opportunity, buuuuuu....t..... I won the weather lottery and was in town for the one day a year that the weather is crappy and they have to cancel the tours. What a bummer!!

Anyways, Papillon Helicopters sounds like a great operation so I signed up to be an affiliate and offer their tours here. If you are interested in doing one of their many tours please click one of the links here so that we get a small commission to help support the forum and get closer to our goal of having a members only Classic RV Storage and Maintenance Facility.

They have tours leaving almost every day from Boulder City, The South Rim, The West Rim and from the Las Vegas Airport.
    • Boulder City - lots of free RV parking and you could even spend the night if needed.
    • South Rim - lots of free RV parking with campgrounds nearby if you wanted to spend the night.
    • West Rim - some RV parking but call ahead first. May not let you spend the night.
    • Las Vegas Airport - can possibly accommodate a few RV's but not set up for it at all.

They also have shuttle pick up from many locations. I was going to get picked up at The Luxor and shuttled to Boulder City.

Call them at (702) 736-7243 if you have questions but please book your tour thru the links here. The online prices are better, good for you, good for the forum. Thank you!

I made it back to Las Vegas again and managed to get booked on the out and back helicopter tour over Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Luckily this time the weather cooperated but the tours with the picnic lunch in the Canyon were full so I settled for the basic tour. It was incredible!! Words cannot begin to describe the experience so I offer you a short video compilation from my trip to help.

Their shuttle bus picked me up at the main entrance to the Luxor Hotel at 4:30 as promised and provided a comfortable 20 minute ride out to their Boulder City Airport terminal.

    The terminal:

A quick check in process where they weigh each person (so they can balance the load in the helicopter properly, don't worry they don't tell anyone how much) and then a short safety video. Then you have a little time to mingle in their beautiful lobby, use the restroom or grab a drink or snack before your tour.

Our pilot, Tim, was friendly, very knowledgeable and made every effort to ensure a great experience for all.
