  • Hitch locks

I am wanting to know which hitch locks people use to prevent someone from stealing a trailer. Are there wheel locks like the boot for travel trailers? Should both be used? Thanks.

We use the Reese hitch lock like this one on our utility trailer. Not sure how hard it is to break off, fairly inexpensive so probably not super secure but does deter the common thief looking for an easy grab. There are other brands like the TriMax made with hardened steel that may be safer. TriMax also makes a wheel boot but I don't know anything about it. Or, if you can, park a vehicle in front of your trailer to block access.

Theft is not an issue right now with a gutted trailer. Thanks for your input Josh. If my plans turn out in reality like they do in my head, I’ll need a fairly good one. LOL!
