  • New Entry Door Seal

The rubber seal that presses onto the edge of the screen door on our Champion Europremier is old, torn, and squished. We get a bit of wind noise on the freeway and I'm hoping a new seal will fix that. I've had a hard time finding a new seal but finally discovered a company called Uni Grip that sells all kinds of seals for RV's. They have an online catalog but only take orders over the phone. Their catalog here has good pictures with dimensions so you can match up what you need. I'm not sure exactly which one I need since there are some subtle differences so they are being kind enough to send me a small sample of each of the two that are likely candidates. Our door needs about 21 feet and they sell any custom length you want but suggested that a 25' roll for $50 is the best deal. Not a bad price if we can get another 22 years of service out of it.

I'm getting samples of their SD-110 and SD-120-AA. I'll keep you posted as to which one works and how it turns out.

A bit of examination revealed that the door actually uses both of the sizes that I got the samples of so I measured and ordered the length I needed for each plus a bit extra for wiggle room. The folks at Uni-Grip were very accommodating and gladly sent my order for two different lengths of the different sizes. Won't be able to do the install until the coach comes out of winter storage. Look for details here around April or May.

Update: Screen Door off of and going to a genius welder fabricator friend to get straightened and re-welded (damage from scumbags trying to break in years ago). After that I will repaint, put in new screens and and put on new door seal. Also realized the the small seal around the screen is in bad shape so I'm starting the search for that with a look at the Uni-Grip site.

The 12 bolts that hold the screen door onto the hinges are in bad shape too (and mismatched) so I'll be picking up new stainless ones with nylock nuts from our local hardware store.
